FANTASY OSCARS Ep. 1 - The 1990's

It's episode 1 of a 3-part crossover series between Cobwebs, The Terror Table and Inside the Sequel! Fantasy Oscars! Each episode will cover a different decade of film, in which Daniel, Mitch Oliver, and Cris Hurtado play a competitive game to decide their fantasy Best Picture winner for each year. From 1990 to 1999, many great films (and personal favorites) are discussed.

Daniel and Paul discuss what makes a Dracula film work, the merits of cinematic universes, and turn into a giant swarm of bats.

Paul Naschy's Night of the Werewolf (1981) and the Universal Monsters remake The Wolfman (2010). Joining Daniel is YouTuber and Paul Naschy expert Aaron Pynn! Aaron gives many Naschy recommendations, and Daniel unpacks his complicated relationship with this remake.

For the next 6 episodes we will be taking a look at 6 different classic monster reboots from the 2000’s. Each episode will open with a discussion on an older horror film that pairs well with the reboot we’ve spotlighted, and today we’ll be talking about two action hero vampire hunters. Hammer’s Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974), and the Stephen Sommers blockbuster Van Helsing (2004). Joining Daniel is action movie expert Michael Scott, the host of Adkins Undisputed: The Most Complete Scott Adkins Podcast in the World. Together they discuss these superhero monster hunters, offer more than a few controversial opinions, and use crossbows to vanquish all evil.
